Tomato sauce for pasta. Actually, the families don´t make their own tomato sauce, because to make this sauce they need a lot of time. People prefer to buy the tomate sauce in supermarkets and that sauce is not good for health. To make the tomato sauce recipe, you´ll need few ingredients. It is very easy, although it is not quick to make at home, but you´ll get your own homemade tomato sauce, more delicious and healthier than the commercial sauce.

INGREDIENTS for preparing 1 kg. tomato sauce for pasta


  • 2kg/35.5 oz. crushed tomato or 2kg/35.5 oz. tomatoes.
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika.
  • A pinch of sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • oil




1.- In a tall casserole, warm a little of oil over low heat. Then, add the onion, the green pepper and the garlic, all ingredients well chopped. Season and cook everything for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

2.- When the onion is transparent, add the crushed tomato. You can replace it adding 2kg/35.5 oz. of peeled and seedless tomatoes, if you prefer. If finally you make this recipe with entire tomatoes, cook them for about 20 minutes more.

3.- If you prefer make it with crushed tomato, add directly the tbsp of paprika and the pinch of sugar to eliminate the excess of tomato acidity. You can add another spices if you preffer. For example, thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil, parsley, a bay leaf… Cover the casserole and cook it over low heat for about an hour.

4.- When the sauce has thickened a little and the flavors have been concentrated, rectify salt. Finally, if you do not want to find bits of vegetables, you can crush everything. If not, you can leave it that way, as it is.


This tomato sauce for pasta is very easy to make at home. There are many ways to prepare this recipe. You can make it in large quantities and then freeze it!
