Russian salad. A very tasty recipe. It’s a classical recipe in world gastronomy. It can be prepared in many ways. In some countries add beet or corn. In others, put gherkin or avocado. The most important in this recipe is the mayonnaise, better if it’s homemade mayonnaise. Let see how to make russian salad.


INGREDIENTS for 2 people: 


  • 1 egg
  • 6.5 fl. oz. oil
  • the juice of half lemon


  • 1 medium potato
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 oz. green peas
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 1.5 oz. green olives
  • 2 o 3 gherkins
  • a can of tuna
  • 1/2 roasted red pepper
  • salt


1.- The most important step is preparing the homemade mayonnaise. Put the egg in a tall glass and add a pinch of salt. You can replace the egg for 3fl. oz milk. Add 6.5fl.oz oil, put the blender to the bottom of the glass and beat all ingredients for about 10 seconds, until the sound of the shake changes. Lift the blender a little while beating for about 5 seconds more. Then, raise and lower the blender without fear of separating the mayonnaise. When the mayonnaise is made, remove the blender from the glass. Finally, add the juice of a half lemon and mix all ingrediets again with a spoon.

2.- Cooking in plenty of water the potatoes next to the carrots for about 25 minutes. Cooking the green peas for about 10 minutes and the eggs for about 10 minutes too.

3.- When this ingredients are cooked, peeling and chopping them and put all in a bowl. Add the can of tuna, the chopped gherkins, which will add a crispy touch, the roasted red pepper and the green olives. All ingredients are well chopped. Finally, put the homemade mayonnaise and mix all ingredients.

This russian salad is a very simple recipe. It is better to serve cold. The only “complication” is preparing the mayonnaise, but with this simple trick, I’m sure it will not be separate! Finally, remember that you can add or remove some ingredient to adapt it to your liking.
