SPANISH PICKLED MUSSELS RECIPE

This elaboration is famous beause you can find it in many bars in all cities of Spain. For making it, you will need some mussels, that you can find at your supermarket. And you are going to prepare a tasty homemade marinade to accompany them. It will be a delicious food to share with your family and friends. Here you have the ingredients to prepare these pickled mussels.

INGREDIENTS for 4 people

  • 35oz of fresh mussels
  • 3fl oz of oil
  • 3fl oz of vinegar
  • White wine
  • 1 tbsp of paprika
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 laurel leafs
  • 1 tsp of black pepper

HOW TO MAKE THE MARINATED MUSSELS RECIPE

Time needed: 15 minutes.

Follow these simple steps to obtain these tasty pickled mussels:

  1. First, cook the mussels.

    In a casserole over high heat and with plenty of water, put the mussels, and cook them for about 5 minutes. After that time, drain them from water and with a knife remove their byssal threads or “beards”. Then, place them in the same casserole add a little white wine jet. Finally, cover the casserole, and let all cook for about 3 minutes. When the mussels are cooked, reserve them in a casserole without their shells. Reserve also a glass of broth from the casserole of mussels.

  2. Prepare the marinade for the mussels.

    In a pan over medium heat, put a little oil jet. After that, add the well-chopped garlic cloves, let them cook for about 2 minutes, and then aggregate the paprika. Afterwards, stir all the ingredients with a spoon, until they are well-integrated. Later, remove the pan from the heat.

  3. Reserve the mussels, and finish making the marinade.

    Then, add to the pan the laurel, the black pepper, 3fl oz of white wine, the vinegar and the rest of the broth from the mussels. After that, mix all the ingredients together.

  4. Cover the mussels with the marinade, and let them repose for a day.

    When the pickled is already made, we are going to cover the mussels with it. Then, cap them, and let them repose for at least a day. While they are reposing, stir all ever 8 hours, so they get well-marinated with the pickled.

The final repose is neccesary so this pickled mussels recipe absorb a good quantity of the marinade that we have prepared, which gives them its special flavour. Now, you can prepare these delicious appetizer in your kitchen, accompanied with your favourite drink. Take a toothpick, and enjoy them!
