EASY ORANGE SPONGE CAKE
Orange sponge cake. Sponge cakes are a popular food in our gastronomy. People usually eat them for breakfast. There are a lot of recipes about this kind of cake. In this occasion, we will have one that will take the zest and the juice from the same fruit, the orange. This ingredient will give a fresh and sour flavour to this sponge cake, keeping its fluffy and soft texture. Here you have the ingredients to make this orange sponge cake.
INGREDIENTS for 4 people
- 4 eggs
- 9oz of sugar
- 11oz of flour
- 3fl oz of oil
- 2 oranges
- 1 pack of yeast
HOW TO MAKE THE ORANGE SPONGE CAKE
Time needed: 45 minutes.
Follow these steps to obtain this delicious orange sponge cake:
- Prepare the dough of this sponge cake.
In a bowl, put the eggs, the sugar, the oil, and the zest and the juice of the oranges. Then, add a pinch of salt, and with a whisk or a fork, beat all the ingredientes, until all of them are well-mixed.
- Sieve the flour and the yeast.
In a strainer, place the flour and the yeast. After that, sprinkle these ingredients, little by little, over the mixture of the previous bowl. Afterwards, stir all well until you have an homogeneous dough.
- Bake the dough of the sponge cake.
Put the dough over a baking mold, previously greased with the butter. Place the baking mold into the oven, preheated over 356ºF, heat above and below, for about 35 minutes.
- Verify that this sponge cake is already made and finally, serve it.
Afterwards, prick the sponge cake with a toothstick to check if it is cooked. If it comes out clean, the sponge cake is done. Retire it from the oven, reserve it on a plate, and wait for a half an hour to warm before to serve it.
