HOMEMADE MASHED POTATOES RECIPE

Mashed potatoes recipe. It is a very easy recipe to make at your home. It is ideal for any occasion as appetizer or as a garnish of your favourite dishes. In the US, many people eat this puree. They usually make this recipe with potatoes and add other ingredients as spices. The authentic mashed potatoes is made with boiled or baked potatoes and then, they crush them. Finally, add salt and ready! But also, you can add butter, oil, sour cream, some milk… Let to see how to make this homemade mashed potatoes recipe.

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • salt and pepper
  • optional: butter, sour cream, oil…

HOW TO MAKE A HOMEMADE MASHED POTATOES RECIPE:

Time needed: 1 hour.

For to make this mashed potatoes recipe, you only follow this simple steps:

  1. Cook the potatoes

    At first, in a casserole with plenty of water, put the potatoes with their peel. It is important water cover completely the potatoes. Bring them to the boil and then, let to cook them for about 25-30 minutes. If you want, you can bake them for about 45 minutes.

  2. Drain the potatoes from the water

    After that time, nail a knife in the potato and if it get in and leave without problems it’s cooked. Then, drain the potatoes from the water and let to warm a little.

  3. Mash the potatoes

    Peel the potato and afterwards, put it in a potato masher. If you don´t have one, you can mash it with a fork or with a spoon although in this form it is more laborious.

  4. Finally add salt and ready to serve

    When potatoes are mashed, add a pinch of salt and mix all the ingredients. Ready to serve!

HOW TO ENRICH THE HOMEMADE MASHED POTATO RECIPE

As optional step, you can enrich it with a nut of butter, a little of oil, some sour cream or milk. We want to find a soft flavour to the hour to eat it. In US is traditional add some spice as oregano or rosemary, some freshly ground black pepper… You can dress to your taste!
