We are going to make an easy broad beans with bacon. A simple recipe with few ingredients and very easy to make at home. You can serve it as main course because it is an important source of proteins. Bacon will aport a lot of flavour to this recipe. Let to see in few steps how to prepare this broad beans with bacon.


INGREDIENTS for 4 people:

  • 21 oz. fresh broad beans
  • 5 oz. bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt and pepper


1.- In a casserole with plenty boiling water, put the broad beans along with a handful of salt. Let to cook them for about 20 minutes. After that time, retire them from the heat and drain the broad beans from the water, keeping a cup of its cooking broth to use later. Reserve the broad beans on a dish.

2.- Then, in a pan over high heat put the bacon previously cut in small pieces and cook it for about 2 or 3 minutes, so that bacon release all its fat. Afterwards, retire it from the heat leaving its fat in the pan and reserving the bacon on a dish.

3.- In the same pan with the fat of the bacon, add the garlic clove and the onion previously chopped. Season and cook all ingredients for about 10 minutes while stirring frequently with a spoon.

4.- When onion is softed, put again the pieces of bacon and cook all for about other 5 minutes, while stirring frequently.

5.- After that time, add the broad beans and the cup of cooking broth. Mix all again and cook it for about 5 minutes more. In this way, all the flavours will mix. Season if it necessary and serve it immediately.
