TRADITIONAL BEEF STEW WITH POTATOES

Beef stew with potatoes. We are going to make a tasty recipe, with its vegetables, a good red wine and a sauce that will give to it an special texture. This dish has a lot of ingredients, but you can find them easily in your supermarket. To prepare this stewed beef with potatoes you will need the next ingredients.

INGREDIENTS for 4 people

  • 35 oz of beef
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 14 oz of crushed tomato
  • 1 glass of red wine
  • 34 fl oz of meat broth
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • 1 tsp of dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oil

HOW TO MAKE THE STEWED BEEF WITH POTATOES

Time needed: 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Here you have the steps to make this beef stew with potatoes

  1. First, cook the meat.

    In a casserole, put a little oil jet. When it is hot, add the beef previusly seasoning and diced. If you use beef with some fat, it will be more tender. Then, seal the meat, that’s mean, let it be browned outside and it is raw inside.

  2. Add the onion and the garlic cloves to make the stir-fry.

    Remove the beef from the casserole and place it on a plate. Put the casserole over low heat and aggregate the chopped onion and garlic cloves. Season and cook them for 10 minutes, while stirring from time to time with a wooden spoon.

  3. Aggregate the tomato, the thyme and the rosemary.

    Then, add the crushed tomato and the dried thyme and rosemary and mix all the ingredients again. Cook them for another 10 minutes keeping the low heat.

  4. Pour the red wine and integrate it with the stir-fry.

    Then, aggregate the red wine. It will give to the stir-fry a delicious touch. Increase the heat to high and cook all the ingredients another 2 minutes more. In this way, the alcohol will be evaporate.

  5. Add the meat again.

    Afterwards, aggregate the beef to the casserole. Mix and integrate it to the stir-fry and immediately after that, pour on it the meat broth. If you don’t have it, you can add some water.

  6. Then, cook all the ingredients together.

    Cover the casserole and cook all the ingredients for about an hour, over low heat. Look at it from time to time to make sure that all don’t run out of water and the ingredients don’t stick to the bottom of the casserole. It is advisable to stir all every 10 minutes.

  7. Finally, aggregate the potatoes to the beef stew.

    After that time, when the beef is more tender, add the potatoes previously cut into diced. Finally, mix them with the rest of ingredients and cook all for about 20 minutes. If you try it and you think it’s bland, you can add more salt to your taste.
