TRADITIONAL APPLE SALAD MEXICAN STYLE

Apple salad recipe. This dish is a bit different from other salads. Its elaboration is between a Russian salad and a dessert. And it is as tasty as any of them. It’s tipically a Latin American recipe, specifically from Mexico. And although it is usually prepared on Christmas, you can enjoy it at anytime of the year. Fresh and delicious, everybody usually likes it. This dish combines perfectly the sweet and salty flavours. So here you have the ingredientes to prepare a tasty Mexican apple salad.

INGREDIENTS for 4 people

  • 6 apples
  • 3 medium carrots
  • 4 slices of pineapple
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 3 oz of walnuts
  • 3 oz of raisins
  • 7 fl oz of oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 2 tbsp of vinegar
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt
  • Oil

HOW TO MAKE APPLE SALAD RECIPE:

  1. First of all, in a bowl place the fruit and the vegetables

    In a salad bowl or similar put the apples cut into medium pieces and with their cores previously removed. Add the pineapple, also cut into medium pieces, and the grated carrots, the whole raisins and the walnuts into small pieces. Aggregate the sugar and mix everything.

  2. Prepare the mayonnaise

    Afterwards, in a beaker, put an egg, a pinch of salt and the oil. Take a hand blender and put it in the bottom of the beaker. Start to beat without moving it, for about 10 seconds. After that time, rise a bit the hand blender and keep beating. When the mayonnaise becomes more integrated, rise and down it slowly, until the mayonnaise gets thicker and homogeneous. Reserve it.

  3. Elaborate the second sauce.

    In a bowl add the sour cream and the vinegar. With a whisk beat them and aggregate the juice of 1 lemon and a pinch of salt. Stir all the ingredients until there is an homogeneous mixture.

  4. Finally, aggregate the sauces to the Mexican apple salad

    When both sauces be already made, in the salad bowl add a cup of mayonnaise and all the amount of the other sauce. Stir well, until the both sauces get well integrated with the other ingredients.

If it is more easy for you, for this Mexican apple salad you can buy the sauces already made in a supermarket, but if they are homemade, it will taste better and they will be more healthy. Serve this recipe cold and enjoy it!
